The struggling handset maker BlackBerry has reportedly sold its Las Colinas office campus, its United States’ headquarters base of operations, months after searching for a potential buyer.
Brookfield Property Group, a Canadian investment company, will be taking ownership of the company’s Riverside Commons 6-building, 460,000-square-foot office property located on State Highway 114.
The building was purchased by BlackBerry back in 2009 to meet with requirements of its large and growing employment base in Las Colinas.
Often when big companies opt to sell hard assets like office buildings, they continue to be tenants on a lease agreement with the buyer. However, its not clear yet whether the BBM maker will be doing the same.
As per reports, the purchase agreement also includes a potential future development site.
The building for sale was marketed by CBRE Group with Hunton & Williams’ Mark Vowell, Trevor Ives, Adam Fritcher and Carol Rennesund being the main catalysts to have worked on the sale.
Financial details of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
