BlackBerry’s latest mid-range smartphone Z3 has finally made it to the Indian shores on Wednesday with a price tag of Rs.15,990 ($265) to take on rival mid-range smartphones including the Moto G, Nokia Lumia 630 and Micromax’s new Canvas Win series.
“The BlackBerry Z3 is also the first smartphone to be introduced from our strategic partnership with Foxconn and it further strengthens our commitment to enhance our devices portfolio,” Sunil Lalvani, managing director for India at BlackBerry, said.
Powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400(MSM8230) dual-core processor, the Z3 features Blackberry 10 operating system, a 5-inch touchscreen display offering a qHD resolution of 960 × 540 pixels and Adreno 305 GPU coupled with 1.5GB RAM.
The device features a 5-megapixel rear camera with a flash and a 1.1-megapixel front-facing camera. The handset packs a 2500mAh battery along with 8GB of inbuilt storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS, NFC and Micro-USB.
For the first time, the Canadian smartphone maker has also rolled out BlackBerry Maps for the Indian users with the BlackBerry Z3. The app provides two-dimensional (2D) maps, local search and powerful voice guided turn-by-turn directions.
BlackBerry Z3 was initially launched exclusively in Indonesia, earlier last month. The Z3 will come preloaded with other BlackBerry services including BlackBerry Hub, BBM, Time Shift, Story Maker camera features, and BB10 browser.
The handset is available for pre-booking with the MobileStore, Flipkart and all BlackBerry exclusive stores, starting Wednesday.
