BlackBerry has confirmed that outage is affected some of its users in Canada as well as some countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
The outage seems to be affecting only legacy or pre-BB10 devices and those with latest handsets with BB10 OS seem to be unaffected. BlackBerry has revealed that it has pinpointed the cause of the outage and is working on a fix and should have the services normalised as soon as possible.
“We can confirm that a service issue is impacting some users in Canada and the Asia Pacific region,” said Lisette Kwong, senior manager of corporate communications for BlackBerry in an email to ITWorld Canada.
“Our technical team has identified the potential cause of the issue and has reduced its impact on customers’ service.”
The outage seems to have commenced sometime on Tuesday morning according to Canadianoutages.com – a website that monitors and tracks the performance of various services including mobile networks, Internet, airlines and public transport spaces.
