BlackBerry in collaboration with luxury brand Porsche Design has officially unveiled the new Porsche Design P’9983 smartphone at an event in Dubai.
Porsche Design P’9983 is the third iteration of BlackBerry’s Porsche branded smartphone, the first 2 being BlackBerry Porsche P9981 and Porsche Design P’9982.
The P’9982 successor will be available starting October from Porsche Design stores, select carriers and retailers, the Canadian handset maker confirmed. However, pricing and availability details are yet to be announced.
Powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor ,the latest version of the Porsche phone features a 3.1-inch touch display (720 x 720p), 2GB RAM, 64GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 128GB. The Porsche Design P’9983 comes with a 2100mAh battery, an 8-megapixel rear camera that records 1080p HD videos with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a limited edition BBM PIN.
As claimed by the handset maker, the LTE-enabled P’9983 features premium quality materials such as sapphire glass for the camera lens, forged stainless steel for the Porsche Design floating logo and chassis, and a special glass-weave technology for the back door.
The phone supports 3G, Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC and runs BlackBerry OS 10.3. Its dimensions are 119×67.1×10.6 mm, and it weighs 140g.
