BlackBerry has announced the suspension of global rollout of BBM for Android, iOS possibly because of too many registrations in the first eight hours of the opening up the servers and that too before BlackBerry actually released the official app for Android.
According to BlackBerry ‘unreleased version’ of BBM for Android had already made it way on smartphones of millions of users across the globe and that was the major cause of the suspension. BlackBerry revealed that as many as 1.1 million users registered within the first eight hours after the servers were opened and that too even before the company could actually make the app available official on Play Store.
BlackBerry said that the unofficial version of the BBM for Android is causing problems “which [BlackBerry] have attempted to address throughout the day.” BlackBerry’s official statement read “Our teams continue to work around the clock to bring BBM to Android and iPhone, but only when it’s ready and we know it will live up to your expectations of BBM. We are pausing the global roll-out of BBM for Android and iPhone.”
BlackBerry has already removed the BBM for iOS from the App Store and will not be available for download until further notification. Those who have already managed to download one can continue using it said BlackBerry. The company has also revealed that users can “follow @BBM on Twitter for the latest updates and go to www.BBM.com to sign-up for updates about BBM for Android and iPhone.”
