The cloud storage company, Bitcasa, in addition to providing users a secure home for their data wants to offer users complete control of their digital belongings for infinite use in future.
In a recent survey, the company found that around 98 percent of the company’s users store less than five terabytes of data and more than 92 percent of the users do not store anywhere close to a terabyte.
Keeping this in mind, the company has introduced a new tiered pricing model that will allow users to meet their capacity needs offering new ways to make it easy for the users to use, discover and share their digital belongings. The company’s unlimited service plan will now cost $999 a year, or $99 per month.
However the company has also confirmed that the new pricing plans will not affect company’s existing customers who will stay on their current plans while experiencing all the improvements the company is offering now.
Under its refreshed plans, new users will be offered 5 gigabytes of free storage (instead of 10GB) and will get up to 20 gigabytes through referring friends. The company will be offering one terabyte of storage for only $10 a month. One terabyte of storage will be equivalent to storing 142,000 songs, 200,000 photos, five million documents or 250 HD movies.
In addition to offering the new storage plans, the company has plans of investing into bringing new ways for making users’ digital belongings infinitely useful. The recently released Bitcasa Secure Storage API will offer endless opportunities for the developers to integrate Bitcasa into desktop and mobile apps giving Bitcasa users more services to improve.
Sad indeed, but it was more of a Trojan horse than anything else, and we would be gullible to think otherwise. It’s good though that we have other options though just as good or perhaps even better. Mine is Zoolz, and with it ‘s incredible unlimited plan of $3/month, i hope they don’t change that cuz I’m sticking with it ….
