BlackBerry Messenger has garnered over 10 million downloads in a short period of just 24 hours making the cross platform messenger one of the most downloaded apps on both Google Play as well as Apple App Store.
The BBM has received overwhelming response from users across the globe and has managed to grab no. 1 position in around 75 countries, including the UK, Indonesia, Canada, the US, and most of the Middle East countries. The apps rating are quite high earning more than 60,000 five-star reviews from about 87,000 reviews on Google Play, said Head of BBM, Andrew Bocking.
The BBM for Android, iPhone still lacks some of the important features such as BBM Video and BBM Channels that are available with the original app on BlackBerry OS. The company has confirmed that it will soon be adding the remaining features via updates.
“My team is still committed to bringing those features to the BBM on Android and iPhone in the near future. And we’re not stopping there – we have some great new features planned that will build on BBM as the private social network you count on for immediate conversations you can control and trust,” said Bocking in a press release.
The company has updated its BBM for Android with a new chat widget allowing users to chat with their friends and family without opening the app. BBM for iOS has been optimized for iOS 7.
