LiveKive, a cloud storage service for Windows and Macs launched in 2011, is nearing its death as AVG has announced the service will soon be discontinued owing to fierce competition and underwhelming reviews.
LiveKive users do have a breathing space to pull their data as AVG has announced it will continue the service until April and data won’t actually be deleted until August.
The company, in a blog post, announced that it will carry out the entire process in two stages. The first stage will mean that from April 1st, 2014 users won’t be able to upload any new files to their LiveKive account. However, they will still be able to download all of their saved files for next 90 days from the April cut-off date.
In the next and final stage, all user files will be deleted on August 18, 2014. After this date, users will not be able to access any file saved to their account. So users need to make sure that they back up all of their LiveKive files before this date, the company blog announced.
AVG further revealed that the closure of LiveKive will not affect any other AVG products or services. The software is no longer featured on the company’s homepage. Users with any queries or concerns have been requested to contact AVG Customer Care for support.
Wow, another one bites the dust. Either they’re dying completely (Nirvanix) or they’re getting rid of their free users (SugarSync). At least users will have plenty of time to move their data.
