The market for higher end mobile phones, (or smart phones), has been dominated in recent months by both Samsung and HTC. You could be forgiven for thinking that these two had released a lot of new products over that time, but in fact HTC has only released one, called ‘The One’. Samsung meanwhile launched the Galaxy S4 and the SGS4 Active. Not a great deal really.
Actually the company that has been releasing the most top of the range products is Japan’s Sony Electronics Company. Sony released both the Xperia Z and the Xperia ZI smartphones and then followed up with the huge Xperia Z Ultra, the first so called, phablet released on the market. In doing this they gained huge kudos as Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 is yet to be revealed.
So it would seem that there is already a very busy R & D department at Sony, but if some leaked pictures are to be believed, they are even busier than we think.
The leaked pictures supposedly show a new model from Sony apparently called the ‘Honami’. It is certainly a good Japanese sounding name and the pictures have created quiet a buzz. The images show that the device is running Android 4.2, that it has a microSDslot, and a relatively large 20 megapixel camera. When comparisons are made with the images and other phones it would seem that the Honami boasts a screen larger than 5 inchs.
Whether these images prove to be correct or not it does seem that Sony are hard at work and that new products are in the pipeline.
