Launch of Apple’s much awaited first wearable dubbed ‘Apple watch’ is scheduled to take place this spring, new report claims.
According to report from technology website 9to5Mac, citing a transcript of an internal video statement, Apple’s Angela Ahrendts, who recently joined as Senior Vice President for Retail and Online Stores, revealed Apple’s first smart watch could be coming this spring.
Addressing the company’s employees, Ahrendts stated, “we’re going into the holidays, we’ll go into Chinese New Year, and then we’ve got a new watch launch coming in the spring.”
Earlier, Cupertino had indicated that the Apple Watch could see an early 2015 launch, but now this report adds more detail surrounding the wearable’s possible launch. More precisely, Ahrendts, in the memo, had suggested that the launch of the Apple Watch is scheduled to happen in Spring which begins on March 20 and lasts until June.
Per Ahrendts, the launch will take place after the Chinese New Year, which is on February 19. If the report happens to be true it is likely that the smartwatch will miss a Valentine’s Day release as anticipated earlier.
The report also adds that sources with knowledge of Apple’s plans have revealed the Cupertino firm has already begun working out retail strategy plans for its first smartwatch.
In a recent all-hands retail employee meeting, CEO Tim Cook reportedly said that all retail employees will be trained to help customers try out the new Apple Watch and its features.
