Latest data from comScore on U.S. smartphone market for September 2013 highlights the dominance of Apple as the top US smartphone maker with a whopping 40.6 percent OEM market share. Samsung, HTC, Motorola, and LG are the other top players in the industry in the top smartphone manufacturer’s list.
During the last quarter in September, around 147.9 million people in the U.S. were reported to own smartphones, up 4.5 percent as compared to June. Apple with 40.6 percent market share topped the OEM list with Samsung making it to the second spot with 24.9 percent market share, HTC was placed with 7.1 percent, Motorola fourth with 6.8 percent and LG fifth with 6.6 percent share.
In the smartphone platform market, Google’s Android made it to the number one position with a 51.8 percent market share, Apple ranked second with 40.6 percent share and BlackBerry, Microsoft and Symbian following the leaders with 3.8 percent, 3.3 percent and 0.3 percent respectively.
Google sites were ranked as the top web property on smartphones with around 90 percent reach of the total mobile media audience (mobile browsing and app usage). Next in line was Facebook with 84 percent audience, followed by Yahoo! sites with 82.2 percent and Amazon sites with 65.5 percent audience.
In the top smartphone app segment, Facebook stole the show with grasping 74.3 percent of the app audience, followed by Google Play with 53.9 percent, Google Search with 53.2 percent and YouTube with 49.6 percent app audience.
