Location of the much awaited and anticipated Apple Store in Edinburgh has finally been revealed, with the Cupertino taking the wraps off its logo at its new location on Princes Street.
The new store in Edinburgh is located opposite the Balmoral Hotel which has had its share of famous brands such as Woolworths and Burger King outlets in the past.
Though Apple insiders refused to spill the beans, Apple’s secret has been ruined in some obvious ways with the workers on the street posting a sign asking for Apple store deliveries be delivered at the place and Lothian Buses renaming its east Princes Street stop as Apple Store on its digital displays. Notably, the news was not revealed even during the recent press event in the building.
While Cupertino had its stores established on Buchanan Street in Glasgow and near Braehead, this is the first time the Capital is enjoying Apple’s presence. Apple has displayed its logo outside the store and the store looks quite spacious covering the shopfront on Princes Street and running into West Register Street.
CEO Marketing Edinburgh John Donnelly said in a statement that they are delighted to have an Apple store in Edinburgh and that it will be a “fantastic addition” to the existing retailers currently running their business on Princes Street.
Apple store will occupy the ground floor and the first floor of the hotel which are connected by a glass staircase. It is also said that a Genius Bar is set up on the first floor of the store. There are already some major brands on the shopping avenue including H&M, Marks & Spencer, Topshop, etc and there are still many vacant shops ready to be occupied.
Multrees Walk, which has housed some quite luxurious brands since its inception in 2003, is now getting more attention of famous brands like Apple. The new Apple Store is rumoured to be opened by August this year.
