Apple’s mobile payment service ‘Apple Pay’ could soon make its way to the UK, a new job advert by Cupertino reveals.
According to an Apple corporate job listing spotted on Wednesday, the tech giant is seeking an intern to provide administrative assistance to the London-based Apple Pay team in roll out of the mobile payment service to Europe and beyond in the Eastern Hemisphere.
As per the job posting, the 35-hour-a-week job would require the candidate to “drive business development activities” and execute multiple NDAs (non-disclosure agreements) and contracts with third party partners including banks, credit card issuers and retailers. The job is based at the company’s Hanover Square office in central London.
“Apple Pay is a new and exciting area in Apple that is set to expand across Europe, Middle East, India and Africa. Apple Pay will change the way consumers pay with breakthrough contactless payment technology and unique security features built right into their iPhone 6 or Apple Watch to pay in an easy, secure, and private way,” read the advert.
“The new London-based Apple Pay team will work to drive the roll-out of this technology across EMEIA by working with a variety of internal and external partners, including teams in the US where the product will first launch and the EMEIA organisation, as well as Issuers, payment networks and merchants across Europe.”
The job listing was removed soon after, while the exact reason for the removal of the posting remains unknown.
Apple recently announced that Apple Pay, which is currently only available in the US, now supports 90 percent of the credit cards used for purchases in the country.
Although the Cupertino has confirmed it has plans to launch the mobile payment service in China, it has not made it clear when other markets will get the service.
