Apple has reportedly begun accepting payment via PayPal for purchases made through its online retail stores in the US and the UK.
Previously buyers could pay for products and accessories purchased through Apple online stores using only a credit card, an Apple Store gift card or special financing. But now anything on the store including MacBooks, iPhones, and Beats headphones can be bought through PayPal.
Payments with PayPal can be made from the online Apple Store by choosing the listed PayPal option when checking out. Once you select PayPal, Apple will direct you to the PayPal site to sign in and confirm your purchase.
In addition to introducing the new payment option, Cupertino is also promoting PayPal’s Credit system, which allows buyers to pay for a purchase costing more than $250 (or £99 in the UK) in equal monthly installments over the course of eighteen months with no interest.
It’s not the first time that Apple has teamed up with PayPal – the service has been available as a payment option in iTunes and the App Store for physical items such as iPhone, iPads, Macs and all the related products and accessories. However, it is now that the iPhone maker has started accepting PayPal for product purchases made at Apple.com.
PayPal is not yet offered as a payment method in the Apple Store app, so it still remains unclear if the option will be added in future.
