On the face of it, the iPad Mini will of course get an upgrade in September, by tech lover’s favorite Cupertino resident, Apple Inc. at the WWD conference. This is because, the company (whose address is Infinity Loop and this maybe a reference to this) have built a rigid timeframe for the update of most or its products. From iPhone 3 to 3s to iPhone 4 to 4s the updates have come in timely fashion.
There could however be some hiccoughs in the upgrade pipeline ahead for Apple Inc. The no brainer upgrade for the iPad Mini is of course to add the Retina display. The iPad Mini currently has the same amount of pixels as the original full sized iPad but crammed into the smaller7 inch screen on the device. This gives the iPad Mini a better resolution than those first iPads.
With the desire to pack more pixels into and ever-smaller space comes an ever-increasing demand on technology. It might be just such a demand, which cannot be met in time, which may affect the ability of Apple Inc. to release the Retina screen upgrade for the iPad Mini.
One market analyst, with a history of insider knowledge in such matters, has stated that production issues with manufacturing these very high-resolution screens would cause a delay in the release of a new iPad Mini.
Currently the iPad Mini has 163 pixels per inch across the 7-inch screen compared to 264-pixel-per-inch across the 10.1 Inch screen of the bigger iPad. This is a significant difference and is surely something that Apple would very much like to remedy in the very near future. Whether the very near future will be in September is any ones guess, but you can be sure that Apple are working on it.
