Apple is all set to launch a 27-inch all-in-one desktop iMac with an ultra high definition Retina display and 5K resolution by the end of this year, according to a report.
The report follows the recent report from Taiwanese tech industry publication DigiTimes that Apple would be launching the iMac in the fourth quarter this year.
The details of the proposed launch of the device came from LCD researcher WitsView, which was quoted by the Taiwanese publication.
DigiTimes, in the past, was way off the track on some of the other reports on Apple, but WitsView quote has given some credence to the report
There isn’t any other information about the proposed iMac available now, but if launched it would join the group of other “Ultra HD” panels slated to be launched this year.
It is being said that the new iMac would be anything but cheap. Presently, for its larger iMac, Apple uses a 27-inches panel. On the other hand, the base desktop uses a 21.5-inch display.
Apple’s intention of launching a Retina display iMac was first reported in June this year when the company’s beta release of OS X 10.10 Yosemite had a string of code that suggested a high resolution of 6,400 x 3,600 pixels. Apple’s MacBook Pro lineup is the only Macs with high-resolution panels.
