Apple’s large iPad rumours have started circling again and this time it’s a word from Cupertino’s supply chain itself that claims that the tablet will targeting North American education industry.
The latest report corroborates with what reported earlier about a possible 12.9-inch iPad in the works. Both the reports point to Quanta computers as the maker of the new iPad and that it will be launched in 2014. The latest report claims that the larger iPad will see the light of the day in October 2014 – just before the next holiday season.
Large sized tablets may be the trend for next couple of years with reports flowing in that Samsung was prepping for a launch of a 10.5-inch AMOLED tablet during CES 2014 to be held in Las Vegas in January.
DigiTimes is reporting through its sources that two panel sizes were being considered – a 12.9-inch one and a still larger 13.3-inch one. However it is likely that Apple will go ahead with the 12.9-inch panel.
The report also states that Apple will be larger iPhone sometime in May 2014 powered by a 20nm chip manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) thereby breaking off its CPU ties with Samsung.
