Apple has always been choosy when it comes to allowing developers to use iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch for their promotional and marketing material and it seems that the fruity company is particularly protective of the recently released gold iPhone 5S.
In its App Store Marketing Guidelines Apple has provided a set of blank product images for iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPod Touch (5th generation), iPad Air and iPad Mini. Developers can use these images to showcase their apps; however, the product colours that developers can use are limited.
Developers can only use silver and space gray colours for iPhone 5S; white and blue for iPhone 5C; and blue and space gray for iPod Touch. The allowed product images don’t contain the gold iPhone 5S indicating that Apple doesn’t want developers to use the highly successful colour of the smartphone in their marketing material.
Further, Apple has also made it very clear in its custom photography and video section that developers may only use select colours of its devices and it doesn’t specify gold iPhone 5S here either.
“Feature only the most current Apple products in the following finishes or colors: iPhone 5s in silver or space gray, iPhone 5c in white or blue, iPad Air in silver or space gray, and iPad mini in silver or space gray. If multiple Apple products are shown, display them in the correct relative sizes.”
