While past rumours suggest that Apple’s iPhone 6 will not be seen until the mid-October, new rumour from Re/code point to an event scheduled by the company for September 9, lending some weight to rumours that the next flagship device will hits the market on the same day.
It’s indeed Apple’s tradition to launch new devices in September and it seems the Cupertino has second thoughts about its new strategy of launching the device in October. Another fact supporting the rumour is that CTIA Super Mobility Week event that kicks off on the same day. Apple usually upstages other events by launching a new device around the same time. However, it has to be taken with the usual grain of salt as Apple is yet to officially comment on it.
The company is expected to announce both the variants of the smartphone with a release date later in the year for the bigger model. With users becoming more interested in phablet type phones, Apple is said to have designed its next smartphone in two sizes – a 4.7 inch and a 5.5 inch variant. The bigger variant is reportedly facing some manufacturing difficulties as a result of which it is expected to debut later this year or early 2015.
Apple is also said to have ordered for more phones than the previous pre-launch order of 50 million and 60 million units of its iPhone 5S and 5C. In the third fiscal quarter that ended June 2014, the company sold 35.2 million iPhones. However, Apple is rumoured to have a number of devices in the pipeline to be launched this year.
