Apple has reinstated its iPhone 5S Personal Pickup service as we anticipated earlier.
The Personal Pickup option allows customers to purchase the iPhone 5S online and even through Apple store mobile app. Once the phone is ready and available, the customer will receive an email saying the phone is ready to be picked from the selected Apple Store Location.
Apple started offering the iPhone 5S Personal Pickup option sometime back, but it decided to remove the option a day later indicating that the iPhone 5S supplies do not match its growing demand. Personal pick up option for the less expensive and multi-colored iPhone 5C has been on since last week.
Though Apple has brought back the option, supply of the iPhone 5s still appears to be constrained, with most of Apple’s stores listing the new handset as “unavailable for pickup.” Those ordering the iPhone 5S online and selecting deliver as an option are being shown vague October shipment dates.
Apple earlier announced that it managed to sell well over 9 million units of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C within just three days of the launch. Apple didn’t reveal individual sales figures of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C; however, analyst are of the opinion that the former would have accounted for sales in tune of 4.5 to 5.5 million while the latter would have clocked in 3.5 to 4.5 million units.
The supply of iPhone 5S is more limited as compare to iPhone 5C and analysts anticipate that the supply will remain constrained till December.
