Apple has revealed through an updated support page as well as a security mailing list message that it has blocked older version of Flash because of a major security issue and that users should upgrade to its latest version.
“Due to security issues in older versions, Apple has updated the web plug-in blocking mechanism to disable all versions prior to Flash Player 14.0.0.145 and 13.0.0.231”, said Apple’s product security team.
Users should upgrade to version 14.0.0.145 to stay protected and for those whose systems do not support this version, Adobe is providing 13.0.0.231 that incorporates the security fixes.
Adobe has said that the vulnerability, if exploited, could allow attackers to take control of the affected computer older versions of Flash Player.
The latest plugin blacklist for OS X only affects Safari and if you are using a third party web browser on your Apple system, you will have to go through a manual update process.
