Apple is expecting bumper iPad Mini with Retina sales during the upcoming holiday season and as the bottlenecks are being slowly removed, Cupertino may have ordered manufacture of nearly 4 million units of the iPad Mini successor it has been claimed.
According to upstream supply chain, Apple has increased its November orders of the iPad Mini with Retina to nearly 4 million – a figure when clubbed along with previous orders reportedly surpasses those for the first-generation iPad mini.
DigiTimes claims through its sources that the initial supply constraints were partly because of the complexity involved in manufacturing of 7-inch Retina panels as compared to 9.7-inch panels. This shortage didn’t allow Apple to get hold of enough stock to offer it to its retail partners. This will soon change in coming month as orders have substantially been increased.
iPad Air on the other hand didn’t suffer from any supply constraints whatsoever “because the supply chain had a longer preparation time” notes DigiTimes.
