Earlier report suggesting 200 Beats employees might lose their jobs post Apple’s acquisition of Beats, has turned out to be just a rumour as an Apple spokesperson on Friday confirmed that the company is extending job offers to each and every Beats employee.
According to a report from Billboard, Apple has claimed that all Beats employees have been extended job offers and that the company will not eliminate any jobs.
Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr said that the company is quite excited to welcome the Beats team and that job offers have been extended to every Beats employee. Some of the job offers are for a limited period as they overlap in operations, while in the mean time the company will work hard to find as many of these Beats employees another permanent job within Apple.
BillBoard notes that aside from 5 performance-based firings, no one will be immediately axed, however, a large number of Beats employees have been warned of possible termination in the next three months to a year.
Positions in human resources, support, finance, legal and other similar jobs overlapping between the 2 companies is expected to get affected by the job cut.
Apple on Friday announced that it has finally closed the $3 billion acquisition deal with Beats and that as part of the deal, Beats’ co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre, have joined Apple along with Ian Rogers, the head of Beats’ subscription-music service, who will also oversee the iPhone-maker’s iTunes Radio efforts.
