Apple didn’t venture into big-screen display with either its iPhone 5S or the iPhone 5C and it is believed that it will do so with its next iPhone – iPhone 6 – by fitting in a 4.8-inch display.
According to Peter Misek, one of the leading Apple analyst at Jefferies & Co., Apple will finally tread the bigger smartphone display waters with its iPhone 6. Misek, who revised his rating on Apple from hold to buy, said in his investor note that Apple will be using a 4.8-inch display in the next iPhone.
Misek has gone bullish on Apple with a revised buy rating with a target price of $600. Some of the reasons behind Misek’s buy rating include Apple receiving more favourable component prices from its supply chain, boost in Apple’s bottom line, and increased gross margins in recent iPhones among others.
A bigger screen iPhone will certainly help recover some of the lost ground. Misek wrote in the note “We est ~50% of smartphone shipments have >4? screens and that a large screened iPhone will act as a catalyst for a large upgrade cycle.
There have been no indication or confirmation from Apple regarding a large-screened iPhone, but there were reports earlier that it was trying out iPhone 6 variants in different screen sizes.
