Apple has announced that its European USB power adapter model A1300, which came along with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S and was also sold as a standalone accessory, “may overheat and pose a safety risk”.
Apple has further stated that it has decided to replace these adapters for a new and redesigned adapter for free through its Apple Stores or authorised resellers in the countries mentioned below:
Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Vietnam
Apple has revealed that only the model A1300, shipped from October 2009 to September 2012, is affected and to identify whether their adapter may be affected users need to check for the model number above the prongs on the adapter.
“An affected adapter features Model A1300 and the letters “CE” in solid gray”, notes Apple.
Those who opt for a replacement adapter will receive one with the model number A1400. Apple has revealed that customers who have already got their adapter replaced before because of the issues highlighted will receive a refund.
