Google has announced its plans of rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat for its Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets starting today
From the annoucement it seems that the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 Wi-Fi models will be getting the Android 4.4 KitKat update first followed by the cellular versions. “Starting today, Nexus 7 (2012 and 2013) and Nexus 10 will be getting a tasty update to Android 4.4, KitKat,” reads the announcement on Google+.
“Stay tuned, Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 versions with mobile data will be getting the update soon!”
Nexus 5 was the first device to get the Android 4.4 KitKat. Rest of the Nexus range of devices will be getting the update soon followed by devices from third party vendors like HTC, Samsung, Sony among others.
Google claims that Android 4.4 provides its users with a “smarter, more immersive” experience and has a very minimal memory footprint that will allow vendors to update even older devices to KitKat. Google has blessed Android 4.4 KitKat with a revamped messaging interface; improved multitasking; built-in pedometer; easier file access; and smarter called ID among others.
