A number of Nexus devices including Nexus 4, 5, 7, and 10 have officially received the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update, which is also available for download from the Nexus Factory Image page.
Following months of rumours and speculations, Google rolled out Android 4.4.3 KitKat for almost all Nexus devices just a couple of weeks back.
Most of the manufacturers are yet to release the Android 4.4.3 KitKat version for their devices, while the company has quietly rolled out the next version for the Nexus users that comes with the build number KTU84P.
Google has posted factory images for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2012 and 2013 Wi-Fi only) and the Nexus 10, confirming the release for the devices. Nexus 5 users have confirmed that they have received OTA updates, while Nexus 4, 7 and 10 users are expected to get the update soon.
The Android 4.4.4 KitKat is likely a security update related to OpenSSL with the main bug being the CVE-2014-0224, along with a number of security tweaks and minor bug fixes reported in 4.4.3 KitKat version.
Earlier this month, reports pointed to Android KitKat 4.4.3 update for the Samsung’s flagship device Galaxy S5, which is said to be in the final stages and ready for deployment. Samsung Galaxy S4 was reportedly next in the line, slated to receive the update next month.
However, Google is expected to launch its next major version of operating system Android 5.0 Lollipop, in the I/O developer conference later this month.
