Hardware vendors cashing-in on bumper software sales is not new and the latest to follow the trend is AMD with its Radeon R9-series GPUs, Battlefield 4 bundles that will be made available starting today.
Customers can buy any Radeon R9-series GPU powered graphics card at any of the participating retailer and they will be eligible for a free download of the recently released Battlefield 4. AMD has three different tiers of reward programme – gold, silver and bronze. The cards eligible under the program include R9 290X, R9 290, R9 280X, R9 270X and R7 260X.
AMD has announced that customers who opt for a graphics card based on the cheaper R7 260X GPU will be eligible for two free games from the Silver tier of its Never Settle Forever program. Battlefield 4 hasn’t been included in the Silver tier; however, customers can pick up games such as Hitman: Absolution, Dirt: Showdown, Far Cry 3, among others.
According to AMD Battlefield 4 will be the first retail game that will have AMD’s Mantle API implementation once a patch in December is released. The patch will enable Battlefield 4’s Frostbite engine to make use of unique features of AMD GPUs.
