Amazon is sending out invites for a recruitment event in Boston, US, through which it is looking for people to help its existing team of creative leaders and engineers in creating a product that will be bigger than Kindle.
The invite doesn’t specifically highlight a great deal about the ‘revolutionary V1 [version 1] product’, but it is evident that it is to do with something that delivers digital media to its customers in new ways.
Smartphone or Set-top Box or …
So what could be this revolutionary product? There are a few things that we can spread out bets on. First it’s the long rumoured smartphone. A smartphone may fit the bill to some extent, but it isn’t necessarily a device solely aimed at delivering digital media.
Next up it could be a set-top box which had a fair share of its rumour pie in 2013. There were reports that Amazon will equip its set-top box with capabilities of streaming video over the web, and possibly new ways of delivered digital media, but a set-top box will not be mobile to the extent that it can catch the attention of mobile workers and those who are on the move constantly.
