Amazon has launched its latest in Kindle Fire line up of tablets – the Kindle Fire HDX, which appears to be designed to ramp up Amazon’s digital service sales. Amazon has claimed that the Kindle Fire HDX is faster and lighter than its predecessors.
Kindle Fire HDX will come in two different screen sizes – 7-inch and 8.9-inch and both the tablets boast of more pixel per inch than the latest iPad. Amazon has put a starting price of $229 for the 7-inch variant whereas the 8.9-inch version will cost and $379. If you are looking to buy one with 4G, you will need to shell out $100 more for each of the models.
The primary reason Amazon is claiming that the new Kindle HDX models are faster than its predecssors is because it has equipped both the models with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor – the fastest mobile processor currently available in the market.
In line with launch of the new tablets, Amazon has reduced the prices of its Kindle Fire HD – entry level 7-inch Kindle Fire HD with 8GB storage will now cost just $139 whereas the 16GB model will set you back by $199. With the price cut, Amazon is refreshing the Kindle Fire HD lineup by giving them an outer body makeover with new magnesium alloy; however, the internal specifications will remain the same.
The new tablets also come with a new feature dubbed “Mayday”, which allows users to contact a customer server representative if they are stuck or need any explanation about a feature or need help with troubleshooting of the device. The customer service rep can remotely control the tablet if required.
