Amazon has recently launched its new Appstore Developer Select program intended to lure and pull new third-party developers into the wider Amazon Empire.
Participants’ apps will get “premium placement” treatment in the Amazon Appstore; to place around 500,000 ad impressions on the Amazon Mobile Ad Network; and automatic inclusion in the company’s Appstore Coins Reward category. Amazon will also be rewarding an extra 250 bonus Coins to first-time purchasers of Select paid apps and in-app items.
Amazon Appstore, Games, and Cloud Drive division’s Vice President, Mike George, in an official statement stated through the Select program, Amazon will target the ‘discoverability concerns’ of developers while also providing “developers with enhanced merchandising opportunities.”
George added that Amazon will “drive sales by offering coins rewards on high quality, engaging apps for customers.”
This offer will be valid only on the first 10,000 purchases made by U.S. Appstore consumers. The offer will not cover free apps and free in-app items. The buyer will earn 250 bonus Coins for the first qualifying purchase which will be redeemable for any Appstore purchase. With future purchases, customers can earn up to 30 percent return on Coins.
An app, in order to qualify, must be optimized for the Amazon Appstore and new Fire OS and should also include Amazon APIs like in-app purchasing, GameCircle and Mobile Ads. Apps which render high definition and uses the entire screen without any kind of stretching, distortion and pixilation comes under optimized apps category, confirmed the online retail giant.
