Acer has released two new models of Chromebook C720 – both powered by Intel Core i3 Haswell processors clocked at 1.7GHz – with claims that these are among the speediest Chromebooks shipped so far.
The first one is the Acer C720-3871 that features an 11.6-inch screen with 1,366 x 768 pixel display, 2GB RAM, 32GB SSD storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, stereo speakers, webcam, HDMI connector, USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports. This Chromebook is priced at $350.
The next one, which is $30 dearer, is the C720-3404 featuring the same 11.6-inch screen with 1,366 x 768 pixel display, but comes with 4GB RAM. This Chrome OS powered laptop packs the same 32GB SSD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, stereo speakers, webcam, HDMI connector, USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports as its cheaper sibling.
One may say that having an Intel Core i3 could be rather too enthusiastic a move considering that a Celeron powered Chromebook boots up in seconds, resumes from sleep in a snap and delivers great performance when it comes to even HD video playbacks.
But having a powerful CPU is always welcome considering that Google’s apps ecosystem is always growing and descent hardware with powerful processors will prove to be future-proof.
