Microsoft has finally spilled the beans on the release date of Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview – yes the wait is over and registered developers will be able to get their hands on the latest version of Windows Phone next week.
“Yowza, you’re going nuts 4 #WP8.1 dev preview. Everyone relax thru weekend, check in early next week. Enjoy Win8.1 update, write apps! :)” tweeted Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore.
The early next week timeline most probably points at April 14 release and anyone with a Windows Phone 8 handset will be able to upgrade to Windows Phone 8.1. Despite the fact that this is going to be a developer preview, any user can effectively download and install the latest mobile OS. Here’s how.
We would like to remind our readers that this is not going to be the final release, as Microsoft said during BUILD 2014 that the final version will be released in ‘coming months’.
Some of the most important features of Windows Phone 8.1 are Cortana (Microsoft’s answer to Apple Siri and its first digital personal assistant), UI overhaul, action centre, dual-SIM support, Internet Explorer 11 among other things.
Its not a release date. Its still a release window. Thought this was something I didn’t know. :-/
Cortana is applicable for Indian developers?
