Google I/O 2014 developer conference registrations have been pushed back by a week at the last minute from its originally scheduled date.
Registration for the Google I/O conference scheduled to be held on June 25 and 26 this year, was supposed to begin on April 8 and end on April 10. General admission tickets will cost $900, while academic admission tickets will cost $300.
Late last month, Google announced that it has opted away from its regular “first-come first-served” method and the tickets will be sold through a lottery registration system, for the first time.
Google hasn’t revealed the reason for the delay, but the brief statement on the Google Developers G+ page suggests that the company is still working on the registration process to make it even easier for developers.
“We’re still working to make the registration process even easier for you, and it will now be open four days starting next week (opening next Tuesday and closing Friday),” read the update.
“After the registration window closes, applicants will randomly be selected and we’ll send ticket purchase confirmation emails shortly thereafter.”
The I/O 2014 registration page also confirms the change in registration dates. “We’re making some changes to this year’s registration process. The window to submit a registration application will open on April 15th and stay open until April 18th, so you’ll have plenty of time to apply,” read the post.
“We’ll randomly select applicants after the window closes on the 18th and notify them the following week via email. Qualified registration applicants will be selected at random for ticket assignments. The order in which registration applications are received has no bearing on the final outcome.”
