UCWeb on Friday announced UC Browser, its popular mobile Internet browser, has crossed the 500 million quarterly active users mark to become the largest third-party browser in terms of user base.
The company claims that out of these 500 million users, 300 million users are on Android. China with 65 percent markets share and India with 32 percent market share accounts for UC Browser’s largest market. The 9 year old company also says it has seen strong growth in countries like Russia, Vietnam, Indonesia and the US.
The company said “Out of UC Browser’s 500 million users, 300 million use Android. With market leadership in China and India, the world’s largest and second largest countries by population, as well as having a strong momentum in terms of user adoption in several other key markets, UC Browser is steadily moving towards fulfilling its mission to provide a better mobile internet experience to billions of users around the world.”
Celebrating the milestone, UC Web launched the new UC Browser brand mascot has been redesigned to better embody the faster and smarter web experience UC Browser delivers to its users and a product tagline which says “A Fast All-in-One Web Experience”.
“UC Browser is steadily moving towards fulfilling its mission to provide a better mobile internet experience to billions of users around the world. To celebrate this landmark achievement and mark the start of its next journey, the company is kicking off a brand campaign that includes the launch of the new UC Browser brand mascot and product tagline,” the company said in a press release.
The company, which is currently working with 5,000 partners – including online service providers, app and game developers, and e-commerce merchants, said under its expansion plans, it is planning to bring UC Browser for TV, which was released in early March, to more countries.
