Samsung has announced pre-order dates for its flagship Galaxy S5 smartphone which was launched earlier at the MWC 2014 in Barcelona.
Galaxy S5 will be available for pre-order from Friday 28 March, two weeks before the April 11 launch date, and consumers will be able to pre-order the handset from Samsung’s online store, the Samsung Experience Store at Stratford Westfield, London, and from “selected” retailers.
EE, Vodafone and Three have already confirmed they’ll be offering the S5. The Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U will also be selling the latest mobile.
Simon Sanford, VP of Samsung UK and Ireland said, “We wanted to give our customers in the UK the chance to get their hands on the next generation of our Galaxy S smartphone as soon as possible by giving them the option to pre-order.”
“With the Galaxy S5, we’ve very much focused on the features that our customers want and will use the most on a day to day basis, and look forward to hearing what they think when they get their new device.”
A spokesperson for the Carphone Warehouse said “We’ve seen record numbers of pre-registrations for the Samsung Galaxy S5 compared to its predecessors so we know that customer demand for this new handset is exceptionally high.
“We’re expecting pre-orders to go through the roof when we open on 28 March as a huge number of Samsung fans are coming toward the end of their contracts and will be looking to upgrade to a new, yet still familiar, device.”
Galaxy S5 will come with some exciting new features including a heart-rate monitor, fingerprint sensor and dust and water-resistance to an IP67 level.
