Hackers have hacked into Mark Karpeles’ blog and have published a post detailing the currency and BTC balance Mt Gox currently has in its accounts claiming that neither the Bitcoin exchange nor Karpeles were being truthful about the whole situation.
The hackers have also publishing links to a 716MB zip file on Karpeles’ blog and a mirror. Redditors have already pushed out a torrent in case the original files and the post get deleted from the blog.
“It’s time that MTGOX got the bitcoin communities wrath instead of Bitcoin Community getting Goxed. This release would have been sooner, but in spirit of responsible disclosure and making sure all of ducks were in a row, it took a few days longer than would have liked to verify the data”, reads a statement on the blog post by hackers.
Authenticity about the leak is being questioned along with the possibilities of backdoors in the execuatable files. The zip file also contains “database dumps, csv exports, specialised tools, and some highlighted summaries compiled from data.”
These specialised tools seem to be some sort of internal accounting software used by Mt Gox, but it can’t be said for certain as of now.
The hackers have also claimed that they haven’t stolen any Bitcoin during the Mt Gox hack as there were none to steal.
