Azoi has launched a health monitoring iPhone case, dubbed Wello that connects with the smartphone via Bluetooth 4.0 allowing users to measure a range of metrics including blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen, temperature, and lung function.
The company claims the measurements to be of high level medical grade accuracy.
The Wello case features a thin design and includes a microprocessor along with two sensors on its rear. Users will have to place two fingers over the designated spots for a few seconds, to trigger the built-in sensors and record the key bodily functions. The recorded information will be passed over to the Wello app on the users’ smartphone to interpret, measure and display the results.
“Over the last two years, we have focused our efforts on coming up with a technologically advanced yet easy-to-use tool to help people monitor their health and facilitate better lifestyle choices,” said founder and CEO at Azoi, Hamish Patel.
“We are proud to introduce Wello – a not so small engineering feat in microelectronics, nanosensors, imaging, data analytics and design. By putting health monitoring technology into a highly convenient and accessible mobile phone case, we hope to be able to make a real difference.”
Azoi also states that the Wello can sync with other fitness trackers, to incorporate additional data. The case comes with a battery that is said to last up to two months on a single charge.
Wello iPhone case is now available for preorder on the Azio website for £144 and is gearing up to ship in the fall of 2014. But it still needs approval to hit the market.
