Nokia has announced that its HERE maps app will soon be available for all Windows 8.1 devices including laptops, desktops, tablets and smartphones.
The app, which was a Lumia 2520 exclusive until now, will be compatible with both Windows Pro and Windows RT and will be available for free from Windows Store.
“Today we’re delighted to announce that the HERE Maps application for Windows 8.1, currently only available on the Nokia Lumia 2520, will soon be available for all Windows 8.1 devices, including laptops, desktops and tablets”, announced Pino Bonetti.
Nokia describes its Here Maps app as an all-in-one mapping solution that combines vector, satellite and 3D maps. The app also shows points of interest, and allows users to search as well as plan routes. Users can download the maps for offline use as well just like they would do on a smartphone.
HERE maps brings in a lot of improvements including speed, which will allow for faster loading of maps as well as city pages; keyboard and mouse support; support for latest high-resolution satellite imagery; and history of searched locations and calculated routes.
Rollout of HERE maps app will start off with North America and Europe.
Lumina 520 can have the HERE map too. I don’t think it is exclusively for Lumina 2520.
