BlackBerry has updated its BBM app for Android and iOS with a feature called “Find Friends on BBM”. This friend finding feature will remove the need to share PINs for adding a friend on the messaging app.
“BBM now includes a new Find Friends feature that allows you to discover people you know that are also using BBM and invite them to your BBM contact list, from within the app”, noted Jeff Gadway, head of product and brand marketing for BBM, in a blog post.
Find friends feature will appear the first time a user opens BBM after the app is updated. However, users can also find the feature under the ‘invites’ tab menu in the bottom left hand corner.
The new feature allows a user to detect friends who are already in their smartphone’s contact list and are using BBM and allows them to invite a friend to join their BBM contact list. Even friends, who don’t yet have BBM, can be invited by the user to download the app via an email or SMS invite.
