AVG Technologies has put its remote access service Crossloop to an end that too without any prior notice.
Crossloop was acquired by AVG in 2012 to support its “rapidly growing AVG CloudCare offering”. AVG, through the CrossLoop website, has announced its “business decision of no longer providing the remote support and management tools” available to the users.
AVG citing the terms of service, that reads “CrossLoop may modify, suspend or discontinue the CrossLoop Services at any time, for any reason, in its sole discretion” revealed that Crossloop’s products and services have been shuttered starting January 31, 2014.
The company also announced that the closure of services is applicable to any and all versions of the product, including paid and free releases. Users will no longer be able to register for a Crossloop account or purchase or access the CrossLoop website, services or products.
AVG has also claimed that it will offer a full refund on valid, active subscriptions. Users with any queries or questions in regard with their account can contact the company.
Though AVG did not mention as why it’s closing down Crossloop, it may be speculated that low profits might be the reason behind this closure.
So is RemoteToPC.Com going to replace CrossLoop?
