Linus Torvalds has announced closure of Linux 3.14 merge window and with that released Linux 3.14-rc1 just before a few hours. Torvalds revealed that the kernel’s codename has nothing to do with Pi and has instead named it “Shuffling Zombie Juror”.
“Hey, it was a normal two-week merge window, and it’s closed now”, notes Torvalds in the release announcement.
Linux 3.14-rc1 contains the usual things two-thirds of which comprise of driver related updates and patches and the rest being architecture updates most of which is dominated by ARM related things. Some of the other architecture updates include those related to POWERPC, X86, MIPS, S390 and IA64.
Linux 3.13 was released two weeks back after delaying the final release to avoid releasing a final version while he was travelling and instead accommodated Linux 3.13-rc8.
