Samsung will keep its well performing nomenclature for its next flagship and will name it Galaxy S5 and equip it with a 2K display and a fingerprint sensor – that’s what @evleaks has claimed through a series of tweets.
Samsung hasn’t let out any information about its upcoming flagship smartphone, but @evleaks has made it a point to keep the leaks flowing week after week. This time the prolific leaker has claimed that Samsung will stick to the winner and name the handset has Galaxy S5.
Through a set of other tweets, the leaker also revealed name of a couple of APKs for the alleged Galaxy S5. The APKs include FingerprintService.apk and 3DTouViewer_WQHD_K.apk.
From the names it seems that Galaxy S5 will indeed feature a fingerprint sensor and not an iris recognition system as was reported earlier. The second file name is interesting for the fact that it contains ‘WQHD’ which is the other name for 2K displays with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution. Earlier benchmark leaks that surfaced late last year fall in line with the 2K display rumours.
Folks over at KGI Research claimed before a few days that the Galaxy S5 will pack an AMOLED 2K display and a 5.2-inch screen.
It was believed that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S5 at MWC 2014, but press invites sent out by the South Korean consumer electronics giant indicate that it will be hosting a Tizen event and not a Galaxy S5 unveil.
Some of the other rumoured specifications include 3GB RAM, 16-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapxiel front snapper, octa-core Exynos processor from Samsung or Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8974AC processor.
