In order to give a tough competition to the fast growing Instagram, Twitter has announced an update to its Android and iOS apps with simple yet better photo editing and tagging features.
The app allows access to photo editing features such as crop, rotate, and change aspect to wide or square. These edits can be applied to a photo either taken through the Twitter app or any existing photo on your camera before uploading it on the microblogging site. It seems that the features are a direct result of the recent collaboration between Twitter and photo editing app maker, Aviary.
The update also brings with it the option of tagging people in an image, same like Facebook, in order to mention them. Users can now just touch the image to add people to their tweet without having to type out their usernames.
Another update brought in by Twitter is ‘recommended’ tweets. With this feature, Twitter will now show up recommended tweets, trending topics and suggestions while users try to scroll through their timeline and refresh feed. These recommendations will however be showed only when there are no new tweets to load. Though this feature is at present only available for U.S. users, it might be rolled out globally in the near future.
Twitter has announced that the new features, which are now available only on Android, will soon make their way to iPhone too.
