HTC One owners in the US and most probably the UK as well are to receive over-the-air Android 4.4 update notification on their handsets this week.
According to the HTC Software Updates status page, Android 4.4 KitKat has entered the certification phase for HTC One from all major carriers in the US. This indicates that the update should roll out this week and the same has been confirmed by HTC through a tweet.
“HTC One owners, final KitKat software has entered carrier labs for final testing and expect certification next week” tweeted HTC USA.
Last year HTC announced that KitKat will be rolled out to HTC One smartphones in the UK at the end of January 2014 and going by that announcement, a release in this week makes perfect sense. However, there has been no update since last year’s announcement.
