All of us probably agree that it is possible to live without technology. We’d probably also agree, however, that giving up technology for a single day is unbearable and very annoying. The widespread use of technology is a good thing to a great extent though.
Particularly in Britain, numerous incredible technologies have been developed. From telephones and steam-powered gadgets to radio, television, IVF computing, and the internet, and from Charles Darwin’s theories on evolution to Isaac Newton’s discovery of gravitation, certain things make our lives better, more convenient, and even save lives.
It should not come as a surprise that the UK, one of the top countries in the world for its dedication to innovation and technology, was chosen once more as TechNation’s “digital capital of Europe.”
To illustrate, because of the internet, we now have rapid access to a wealth of knowledge. You may read the most recent news, get the solutions to your science assignments, or simply share images with friends in a matter of seconds as long as you have a reliable server.
Most people’s lives are dependent on it, and it has bonded us in ways we never imagined. I know how frustrating it is to be unable to use the internet, even if it may be inconvenient for us individually if our internet connection goes down. However, society has become so reliant on the internet that our economy would collapse without it.
What would have happened without Tim Berners-Lee? It’s really challenging to explain how much the internet has changed the socio-political scene of today. The modern digital world is credited to English computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee, who developed the first web browser in 1989 while working at CERN. In order to create the World Wide Web as we know it today, Lee created a functional “information superhighway” using a network of hypertext connections, domain names, and Transmission Control Protocol.
Since the debut of CERN’s first web browser, the World Wide Web has grown into a vast ecosystem of websites and users. Today, there are 1.88 billion websites on the internet, which is predicted to be used by 63% of the world’s population, or over 5 billion people.
We share our personal lives online. Through social media platforms, we enlighten the world about our experiences, ways of life, trips, and culinary preferences. We broadcast live, participate in video call conferences, and share private information with others. Facebook receives thousands of brand-new photo uploads every minute. The web played a big part in creating the enormous informational database that most of us now regularly use as well as in making the internet more widely known.
We can’t imagine a world without technology now because it makes labor more efficient and quick. Technology has improved global communication and has sped up connections. Nowadays, technology has control over people. As long as people are aware of the potentially harmful consequences that technology may have on society, we may endeavor to employ it in more advantageous and useful ways for our daily lives.
