Executive Vice President and head of the design team at Samsung’s IT & Mobile Communications Division Mr. Dong-hoon Chang has reportedly confirmed the launch of Galaxy S5 smartphone at MWC 2014.
According to a report on Korean publication inews24, Chang confirmed the launch dates of the Galaxy S5 and stated that the next flagship will be launched a month earlier and not during Samsung’s Unpacked event. The report also claims that Samsung will also announce a successor of its Galaxy Gear smartwatch – Galaxy Gear 2 – alongside the Galaxy S5. The executive also revealed that S5 name is under review.
Earlier rumours about a metal-encased Galaxy S5 surfaced again. It was claimed that Samsung is likely to launch two different smartphones in early 2014 – the Galaxy S5 and a Galaxy F series smartphone.
A Samsung executive confirming such dates prior to any official announcement from Samsung seems to be rather strange and we would take it with a grain of salt.
