Nokia has removed Here Maps from Apple App Store just over a year after its debut claiming that the new iOS 7 operating system harms user experience.
Nokia hasn’t detailed how iOS 7 harms user experience while using Here Maps app, but has revealed that iOS 7 users can continue using the maps service through the web version if they wish to do so. The app was launched in November 12 weeks after the Apple released its not-so-perfect initial version of Maps app and provided users with features such as offline caching, voice-guided navigation, and public transportation guidance.
The statement that Nokia has sent out to several media outlets, reads “We have made the decision to remove our HERE Maps app from the Apple App Store because recent changes to iOS 7 harm the user experience.”
It’s not clear how many users have been affected by this decision as Google has released its own Maps app and Apple has improved its own Maps service greatly after the initial hiccups over the period of one year.
