Apple has announced collaboration with Cisco aimed at optimizing the networking giant’s gear and software for iOS apps and devices.
The partnership was announced on Monday by Cisco Executive Chairman John Chambers and Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook at Cisco’s annual sales meeting in Las Vegas.
As part of the agreement, Cisco will offer services specially optimised for iOS devices across mobile, cloud, and on premises-based collaboration tools such as Cisco Spark, Cisco Telepresence and Cisco WebEx. Financial terms of the partnership remained undisclosed.
Announcing the partnership, Apple chief executive, Tim Cook, said iOS has become the world’s best mobile platform, and nearly every Fortune 500 and Global 500 company has put iOS at the centre of their mobile strategy.
He said that iPhone and iPad have become essential tools for the modern workforce and are eventually changing the way work gets done.
Cook added that together with Cisco, Apple believes that it can give businesses the tools to maximize the potential of iOS and help employees become even more productive using their iOS powered devices.
Cisco executive chairman, John Chambers, said ninety-five percent of companies in the Fortune 500 count on Cisco Collaboration and Cisco networks to help their teams be more productive.
Chambers said that through the partnership with Apple, the company aims to offer their joint customers the ability to seamlessly extend that awesome Cisco environment to their favourite iOS.
This is for the second time in last two years that Cupertino has collaborated with a major technology company that focuses on business customers. Last year, Apple teamed up with International Business Machines Corp to create and sell business software for iPhone and iPad users.
