UK-based new smartphone maker, WileyFox, has announced two new Cyanogen-powered smartphones dubbed Swift and Storm.
WileyFox Swift features a 5-inch display sporting an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor under the hood, paired with Adreno 306 graphics, a removable 2,500 mAh battery, 16GB internal storage and 2GB RAM, with expandable memory up to 32GB. The handset packs 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras.
WileyFox Storm on the other hand is a bit larger with 5.5-inch display sporting an HD resolution of 1,920 × 1,080 pixels, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, a non-removable 2,500 mAh battery, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, expandable to up to 128GB via microSD. The handset has a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera built by Sony and an 8-megapixel camera on the front.
Both smartphones offer dual-SIM slots and 4G LTE support and run Cyanogen OS 12.1, based on Android 5.1 Lollipop, which will give users great customization of apps and security. Customised lockscreen shortcuts, themes, PrivacyGuard, TrueCaller and PIN scramble, a feature that mixes up the order of keys to prevent attackers figuring out passcodes from smudge marks, are some of the key features that the Android Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS offers.
The Swift and Storm will come equipped with Cyanogen’s own browser, rather than Chrome, which the smartphone maker claims is 1.6 times faster than Google’s Chrome browser and 1.2 times more power efficient.
The £129 Swift will go on sale online at the end of September, while the £199 Storm will start shipping in October. Initially, the smartphones will be launched only in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
